Do You Have the Time?

Attic Gal Alysa says:

Here is a fun way to add something quick and easy to a wall. Clocks. I limited myself to three due to space but I would love to have a whole row of clocks. I decided to pick the areas that have meaning to me and that are in different time zones. When my children say, "Mom, can I call Grandma?" I'll say, "Check what time it is." Comes in handy when teaching children about time zones. The wood plaques have vinyl lettering but you could easily just put vinyl lettering on the wall underneath the clocks. One of my friends had a little frame under her clocks with the location printed on a paper inside of the frame. I purchased the clocks at Wal-mart for about $10 each and the plaques were about $5 each.

My dear brother-in-law is in charge of setting the clocks every time he comes for a visit. I think we are in need of a visit since "spring-it-forward" has occurred.

What places have meaning to you and what time is it there?

  1. This reminds me, we had a clock that was kept on the shelf with the lable "missionary time". It has been set for Japan, Utah, and Argentina. Such a fun idea.

  2. The vinyl letterings for the names were made by a gal in Utah. You could use a Cricut machine (I have one if you want to come and use) or vinyl lettering via companies such as Uppercase Living, etc. They sell the names at Pottery Barn but you get a bunch and they are expensive. You could even paint it on the wall. Show us a picture upon completion!

  3. Alysa, I love this idea. I actually have the same thing in a row in our office. I've loved it ever since I put it up. Since I worked at PB at the time, I have the "expensive" (employee discounted) lettering from them , but love them.

  5. I would just love to have Paris time on my walls! Never have been, but maybe that would bring me a bit closer...

  6. My brother lives in Spain, this would be so helpful for me! I'm always calling him really late at night.

  7. I should do this- I have family in different time zones than me and I'm always trying to figure out what time it is there to see if it's safe to call. Thanks for the idea, I think it would look good in my office!

  8. I'm surprised I didn't comment on this post the first time I read it! I adore this. I was thinking of doing the clock thing in my boys' room, but opted for portraits instead. Seeing this again makes me second guess my decision. So cute!

  9. I have been wanting to do this but I've never seen anyone do it vertical before. I"m glad I haven't done it yet because I may just do it vertical! Oh the options are endless!
